The Nuclear Safety Directive 2014/87/Euratom requires EU Member States to undertake, every six years, national assessments on a specific topic related to nuclear safety, followed by a peer review by other Member States, with the European Commission as an observer.
The preparations of the second topical per review on fire protection started in 2021.
